How do I know if I need therapy?

How long are the sessions?

Therapy sessions range from 45 minutes to an hour. each session is unique into itself and requires the opportunity to process and explore healthier strategies to address life concerns.

Do you offer online therapy and in office therapy?

Yes. Better Day Counseling exclusively offers telehealth services to appropriate clients. At this present time in office therapy  is not provided but resources can be provided.

If I don’t have insurance, do you provide a sliding scale?

Yes, Better Day Counseling provides a sliding scale for clients seeking therapy without insurance.

Does therapy really work?

Research consistently shows that therapy is effective for many mental health conditions and personal challenges. Success depends on factors like the therapist client relationship your commitment and the appropriateness of the approach.

How will I know if therapy is helping me?

Signs of progress include improved coping strategies, increased self wellness, and achieving your personal goals. Regular discussions with their therapist can help track progress.

What types of therapy do you use?

Cognitive behavioral therapy also known as CBT is the most utilized therapeutic modality in your sessions due to its evidence based approach and practical framework for addressing a wide range of mental health challenges. It focuses on the relationship between thoughts, emotions and behaviors, empowering clients to identify and challenge negative thought patterns that contribute to distress. It helps clients develop healthier more constructive ways of thinking and behaving which leads to improved emotional regulation and problem-solving skills.

Mindfulness complements CBT by enhancing self-awareness and grounding clients in the present moment. By incorporating mindfulness techniques, clients learn to observe their thoughts and emotions without judgment fostering a deeper understanding of their internal experiences. This practice supports the CBT process by helping clients pause com reflect and respond thoughtfully, rather than reacting impulsively to triggers. Together CBT and mindfulness create a holistic approach that combines cognitive restructuring with emotional and sensory awareness promoting both mental clarity and emotional resilience.

What can I expect in my first counseling session?

In your first session, you’ll have the opportunity to share what brought you to counseling and discuss your goals. We’ll ask some questions to understand your background and current challenges, but the pace is up to you. This session is mainly to build rapport and establish a safe, trusting space for you to express yourself openly.

How long does counseling take to see results?

The length of counseling varies depending on individual goals and needs. Some clients feel progress after a few sessions, while others may need several months for more complex issues. Together, we’ll discuss a plan that aligns with your goals and check in regularly on your progress.

Do you offer sessions for couples or families?

Yes, we offer sessions for both couples and families. Whether you're working through relationship issues, family conflicts, or looking to improve communication, we tailor our approach to address the unique dynamics of each relationship and provide tools to improve understanding and connection.

Can counseling really help with anger management?

Absolutely. In our anger management sessions, we explore the underlying causes of anger and develop strategies for responding in healthier ways. You’ll learn techniques to control your reactions, identify triggers, and channel emotions constructively, which can greatly improve relationships and overall well-being.
